Almo Sound
| Performance 7 | Sound 9 | Passion Dance is an upbeat, spicy and passionate record that is extremely well recorded. Musically, Passion Dance is a throwback to Alpert's very successful records in the 60's with the Tijuana Brass. "TKO" is as exactly as it implies, a knock out with high energy percussion and a killer piano part over which Herb establishes a compelling melody. The record is strong from start to finish and the recording is one of the best non-audiophile recordings I have heard in at least 5 years. If you like spicy music you must (I said must) own this record. Passion Dance has the rare balance of good songs and a first class recording. Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss co-founded A&M records in 1962 and in 1994 started a new label called Almo Sounds. Along with Passion Dance Almo has also released Garbage (the band not the music). With the high musical standard set by Garbage and Passion Dance you should be looking for more hot releases on Almo Sounds. |
